Complementary Network Surveillance Technology Shines at Acer Computer Installation
AUSTIN, TX (OCTOBER 21, 2010) – Salient Systems today announced that it had achieved GOLD STATUS in the Axis Development Partner (ADP) program. The program aligns the best-inclass security and video surveillance systems available in the market with Axis Communications products to deliver leading edge security solutions to end user customers. “We have worked closely with Axis Communications for many years and have designed our video surveillance solutions based on the shared commitment to open standards offering our customers the best solution to meet their security needs,” says Per Hanssen, President and CTO at Salient Systems. As long term partners, Salient Systems and Axis Communications have worked closely in many end-user deployments such as Acer Computer, a leading global provider of PC products and accessories.
In cooperation with InHouse Systems, Inc., a Certified Reseller for Salient’s CompleteView TM Video Management System, Acer Computer has selected an Axis Communications and Salient Systems integrated solution for their Temple, TX campus video security deployment. The deep integration between Axis Communications network cameras and Salient Systems CompleteView Video Management System was one of the primary factors in Acer’s decision to choose each company.
As a premier provider of security, fire and video surveillance systems, InHouse Systems brings nearly 20 years of experience to their customers and provides the most advanced security systems available in the market today. “InHouse Systems breadth of knowledge and customer loyalty were the primary reasons for the successful and ongoing migration from analog to IP video surveillance technology at Acer Computer,” notes Kay Hirrill, Operations Manager at InHouse.
Acer uses on-camera intelligent features such as camera-based motion detection and camera tampering alarm which are integrated with Salient’s CompleteView VMS. “The quality of the IP camera technology was outstanding and the integration of Salient’s CompleteView VMS and Axis cameras helped us to utilize the best available technologies to meet our security needs. This also allowed us to achieve our project goals of server hardware, energy and maintenance cost savings,” explains Jim Calhoun, Acer’s Facilities Manager.
Utilizing AXIS 211M and 216 Fixed Dome Network Cameras with Salient’s CompleteView VMS, Acer secured manufacturing, repair and administration buildings across a large campus while taking advantage of centralized monitoring and administration capabilities. “The ability to centrally monitor cameras and manage recording servers located in different buildings across the campus was a key ingredient in the decision,” notes Calhoun.
Axis’ ADP program assists software developers in fully integrating Axis network video products in end-user solutions by providing application components such as VAPIX®, technological documentation, SDKs and dedicated development support. With worldwide partners, Axis’ ADP program provides end-users with the industry’s largest base of video management software and intelligent application options.
“Axis and Salient have been working closely together for many years delivering advanced, yet intuitive network video surveillance for our mutual customers such as Acer Computer,” said Fredrik Nilsson, General Manager, Axis Communications. “By working together with Gold level ADP’s in the product development phase, innovative benefits – such as linking in-camera intelligence with VMS systems to reduce processing drain and energy costs for the customer - can be delivered.”
